Welcome to the JobSeekers section of the JobFishing website.  This site has been developed with one main goal in mind... To assist South African JobSeekers become more skilled in the process of finding employment.

Unemployment is rife in this country, but you just need to look on any of the e-recruitment sites, or any of the job sections of the newspapers, and you will see hundreds and often thousands of vacancies, advertised week after week.  Why is that?  It is not because the JobSeekers don't have the skills to do the job... it is because they simply don't know how to apply for and land the job effectively.  This site exists to help JobSeekers overcome this problem.

Don't accept counter offers.  Ask yourself: "If they didn't value me before, why should they value me now?

Check your Bait…
(Lloyd Dicks)

Are you frustrated with the Job Seeking process?  Are you sending your CVs out, calling up companies, only to have the same response (if any response) again and again?  Are you starting to believe that there simply are no jobs out there for you, and people don't care?

Before you get caught in this trap, stop for a moment, and think about the way in which you are going about this process.  If you are not getting the desired response from the market, don't sit back and blame it on the world around you.  Change the way in which you go about doing things, and you will be surprised at the reaction that you will get.

To use our fishing analogy, don't be like the fisherman who sits by
the lake all day, complaining that the fish aren't biting, and all around him his friends are pulling them in.  At the end of the day, he pulls in his line, only to discover there is no bait on the hook...  The question he has to ask himself is "How long has it been like that?"

Don't let this happen to you.  Check your bait!
